Let \(N\) be a normal subgroup of a finite group \(G\), let \(F\) be an algebraically closed field, let \(\alpha \in Z^2(G,F)\) and let \(V\) be an irreducible module over the twisted group algebra \(F^{\alpha}G\). If \(\operatorname{char} F = p > 0\) divides \((G:N)\), assume that \(G/N\) is \(p\)-solvable. It is proved that \(\dim_FV\) divides \((G:N)d\), where \(d\) is the dimension of an irreducible constituent of \(V_N\). The special case where \(\alpha =1\) and \(N\) is abelian yields a well-known theorem of \textit{E. C. Dade} [Math. Z. 104, 141--143 (1968; Zbl 0157.06301)]. Another special case, namely when \(N\) is abelian, \(\operatorname{char} F\nmid (G:N)\) and the restriction of \(\alpha\) to \(N\times N\) is a coboundary, is a generalization of the main result of \textit{H. N. Ng} [J. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 10, 379--384 (1975; Zbl 0307.20007)].
