For a finite group G let L(G) be the terminal member of the derived series of \(F^*(G)\), the generalized Fitting subgroup of G. The authors prove that the class \({\mathcal L}=(G| G=C_ G(L(G))\cdot L(G))\) is a normal Fitting class; moreover, all groups in \({\mathcal L}\) possess injectors for the class \({\mathcal N}\) of nilpotent groups. \{Reviewer's remark: In yet unpublished work, P. Förster has shown that every finite group possesses \({\mathcal N}\)-injectors.\}
