Löwner matrices are used in problems of rational interpolations, for example in the theory of electric networks. The paper shows that the inverse of a Löwner matrix can be represented by a triple matrix product, in which the two outer matrices are diagonal ones and the matrix in the centre is a Löwner matrix, too. The representation by such a triple matrix product is not unique. For further investigations so-called D-classes of Löwner matrices are defined and distinction is made between special and nonspecial D-classes. Several conditions are formulated which are necessary and sufficient for the existence of diagonal matrices describing the equivalence of two Löwner matrices.
