By means of the judicious use of the \(q\)-differential and multiplicative difference operators, a rational approximation of \(E_ q(x)\), a basic analogue of the exponential function, is deduced. Explicit series representations of the associated approximation polynomials are also given. In conclusion, an irrational representation of the same function is obtained using similar techniques.
