The authors study convergence of certain exponential sums that interpolate to functions which are the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of a signed or complex distribution, and prove several theorems. They analyse the corresponding recent work of \textit{D. W. Kammler} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 57, 560-570 (1977; Zbl 0357.65005)] involving a positive distribution and extend and improve Kammler's results in various ways.
