The author rewrites in a slightly different way the structure results for abelian covers of \textit{R. Pardini} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 417, 191--213 (1991; Zbl 0721.14009] and constructs a new example of minimal complex surface of general type as a \({\mathbb Z}_5^3\)-cover of the plane branched on a configuration of 6 lines, very similar to one of the famous examples given by \textit{F. Hirzebruch} [Contemp. Math. 9, 55--71 (1982; Zbl 0487.14009)].
