This paper investigates connections between positive metric entropy, positive Lyapunov exponents, and sensitivity to initial conditions in the setting of interval maps. Since many authors have studied these connections, the goal of this paper is to study them under the most general reasonable conditions. For example, \textit{A. M. Blokh} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 37, No. 2(224), 189--190 (1982; Zbl 0501.28010)] showed that if \(f:[0,1] \rightarrow [0,1]\) is continuous with positive metric entropy then \(f\) has sensitivity to initial conditions. In the paper reviewed here, Theorem A shows that this result holds without the continuity assumption. By studying these interconnections the authors extend some previous results from [\textit{C. Abraham, G. Biau} and \textit{B. Cadre}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 290, No. 2, 395--404 (2004; Zbl 1034.37019)], [Blokh, loc. cit.], and [\textit{F. Ledrappier}, Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 1, 77--93 (1981; Zbl 0487.28015)]. To summarize more of the main results, Theorem B shows for piecewise monotone maps that having positive Lyapunov exponents implies sensitivity to initial conditions. Theorem C proves that there is a \(C^1\) interval map \(g\) with exactly one critical point such that the measure of points with positive Lyapunov exponents is full but \(g\) does not have full sensitivity to initial conditions. Theorem D derives the Rohlin-Ledrappier formula under a piecewise Lipschitz condition. Theorem E proves for \(C^3\) interval maps with non-flat critical points that having sensitivity to initial conditions implies positive metric entropy.
