The author studies the differential Krull dimensions of rings of differential polynomials. The author first proves an analogue of the Special Chain Theorem which says that for any ordinary standard differential ring \(R\) of finite differential type and every positive integer \(n\), \(ht^{\Delta}\mathcal{P}=ht^{\Delta}\mathcal{Q}\{z_{1}, \cdots, z_{n}\} + ht^{\Delta}\mathcal{P}/\mathcal{Q}\{z_{1}, \cdots, z_{n}\}\) where \(\mathcal{P}\in Spec^{\Delta}R\{z_{1}, \cdots, z_{n}\}\) and \(\mathcal{P}\cap R=\mathcal{Q}\). Then, the author proves that for any ordinary differential ring \(R\) of finite Krull dimension, if \(\dim^{\Delta}R\{z_{1}, \cdots, z_{n}\}>n\) for some \(n\), then \(d_{R}>1\). Recall that a ring \(R\) is called a Jaffard ring if \(R\) is of finite Krull dimensions and \(\dim R[x_{1}, \cdots, x_{n}]=\dim R+ n\) for all \(n\). Finally, the author studies the analogous concept of \(J-\)rings for differential rings, and establishes many examples of \(J-\)rings which certainly include some Jaffard rings.
