The Virasoro-Bott group endowed with rhe right-invariant \(L^2\)-metric (which is a weak Riemannian metric) has the Korteweg-de-Vries equation as geodesic equation [\textit{V. Yu. Ovsienko} and \textit{B. A. Khesin}, Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 21, No. 4, 81--82 (1987; Zbl 0639.58019)]. In this paper the authors prove that on all Virasoro-Bott groups the geodesic distance for the right-invariant \(L^2\)-metric vanishes.
