A semigroup \(S\) is said to be strongly lattice determined if any isomorphism between the lattice of subsemigroups of \(S\) and the lattice of subsemigroups of a semigroup \(T\) is induced by either an isomorphism or an anti-isomorphism. For instance, it is known that the infinite cyclic group and the bicyclic semigroup have this property. Observe that these semigroups share the properties that they are bisimple, inverse, and generated as semigroups by two mutually inverse elements of infinite order. In fact, these are the only two such semigroups. However the author showed [Semigroup Forum 78, No. 2, 310-325 (2009; Zbl 1182.20054)] that weakening the `inverse' property to `orthodox' yields a broad class of interesting semigroups, which he classified and described. By making detailed use of that classification, he now proves that every such semigroup is strongly lattice determined.
