Fixkörper von \(p\)-Automorphismengruppen rein-transzendenter Körpererweiterungen von \(p\)-Charakteristik (Q771038)

With a \(p\)-group \(\mathfrak G\) of linear transformations on \(n\) variables \(x_1,\ldots, x_n\) over a field \(k\) of characteristic \(p\), it is proved that the fixed field of \(\mathfrak G\) in the purely transcendental extension \(k(x_1,\ldots, x_n)\) is also purely transcendental over \(k\), as a consequence of the theorem that if \(k = K_0 \subseteq K_1\subseteq\ldots\subseteq K_n = K\) is a chain of fields of characteristic \(p\) with \(K_i = K_{i-1}(u_i)\) and if \(\mathfrak G\) is a \(p\)-group of automorphisms of \(K\) over \(k\) such that \(u_i^G-u_i\in K_{i-1}\) for every \(G\in\mathfrak G\) and \(i = 1, \ldots, n\), then the fixed field of \(\mathfrak G\) in \(K\) is generated over \(k\) by \(n\) elements.
