The author deals with a Sturm-Liouville problem which includes rational Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions of the eigenvalue parameter in the boundary conditions and defines isospectral transformations for this problem. By using these transformations, the author studies some spectral properties of the spectral data such as direct and inverse spectral results, asymptotics of eigenvalues and norming constants, oscillation of eigenfunctions, regularized trace formulas and inverse problem.
