The author contributes to the well-established subject of automorphism orbits of groups; where for a group \(G\) the natural action of \(\Aut(G)\) on \(G\) is considered. In this paper, the author studies finite groups whose maximal length of an automorphism orbit is bounded above by a constant, and he proves the following four results: (1) A finite group \(G\) has \(\Aut(G)\)-orbits of length at most 3 if and only if \(G\) is either cylic of order 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6; the Klein 4-group; or the symmetric group of degree 3. (2) There are infinitely many finite 2-groups \(G\) having maximum \(\Aut(G)\)-orbit length 8. (3) The order of a \(d\)-generated finite group \(G\) with \(\Aut(G)\)-orbit length at most \(c\) is explicitly bounded above in terms of \(c\) and \(d\). (4) A finite group \(G\) with \(\Aut(G)\)-orbits of length at most 23 is solvable. The author concludes the paper with a few open problems, such as ``Determine the largest positive integer \(c_0\) such that there are only finitely many groups \(G\) with maximum \(\Aut(G)\)-orbit length at most \(c_0\).''
