In the paper the authors are interested in finding rational parametric solutions of the Diophantine equation of the form \(z^2=f(x)^2\pm f(y)^2\), where \(f\) is a Laurent polynomial of a specific form. For example, the authors prove that for each \(b, c\in\mathbb{Z}, c\neq 0\) and \[ f(x)=x+b+\frac{c}{x} \] the Diophantine equation under consideration has infinitely rational parametric solutions. Moreover, the authors proved that for the polynomial \[ f(x)=\frac{(x+1)(x+b)(x+c)}{x^2} \] and each choice of the signs, the Diophantine equation \(z^2=f(x)^2\pm f(y)^2\) has infinitely many non-trivial rational solutions. The method of proofs is standard: the reduction of the problem to the study of the existence of rational points on related elliptic curves (defined over rational function field).
