Let \(C\) be a non-singular, projective, irreducible, algebraic curve of genus \(g \geq 1\) over a finite field \(F_{q^2}\). The curve \(C\) is called an \(F_{q^2}\)-maximal curve, if \(\#C(F_{q^2}) = q^2 + 1 + 2qg\). Curves with many rational points have been studied to construct algebraic geometric codes (AG codes). The Weierstrass semigroups on rational points of the curve have been used to analyze the minimum distance, the code redundancy, to determine improved codes, to bound the code length, or to analyze the weight hierarchy and the generalized Hamming weights. In [\textit{S. Tafazolian} et al., J. Pure Appl. Algebra 220, No. 3, 1122--1132 (2016; Zbl 1401.11111)], the families of maximal curves \(\mathcal{X}_{a,b,n,s}\) and \(\mathcal{Y}_{n,s}\), which cannot be covered by the Hermitian curve, are introduced. In the paper under review, the minimal generating set for the Weierstrass semigroup \(H(P_{\infty}, P_1, \ldots , P_m)\), where \(P_1, \ldots , P_m\) are rational points on these curves with \(1 \leq m \leq q\), is determined using the concept of discrepancy introduced by [\textit{I. M. Duursma} and \textit{S. Park}, Finite Fields Appl. 18, No. 5, 865--885 (2012; Zbl 1279.94150)]. Furthermore, some results about pure gaps and AG codes are presented. These results are illustrated with an example of a code with better relative parameters than comparable one-point AG codes, and an example of a quasi perfect code.
