This paper aims to study a mathematical model for the vector-borne viral plant disease. Such model is formulated by a systems of delay differential equations. The authors first give the definition of the basic reproduction number \(\Re_0\) and show the results on the existence of equilibria. When \(\Re_0<1\), the disease-free equilibrium \(E_2\) is stable. Transcritical bifurcation occurs when \(\Re_0=1\). When \(\Re_0>1\), the disease-free equilibrium \(E_2\) becomes unstable and another positive equilibrium called endemic equilibrium exists. In both delayed and non-delayed systems, stability switches have been observed analytically and numerically as well. More specific, the system with delay undergoes a Hopf bifurcation under some conditions. Biologically, the authors draws a conclusion through the theoretical analysis. If the latency or incubation can be increased to the optimal level, for which \(\Re_0<1\), the disease can be eradicated from the system.
