In a previous paper [Ann. Mat. pur. Appl. IV. Ser. 87 (1970), 357-374 (1971; Zbl 0214.311)], the author has proved the following result concerning a characterization of preservation of integrability: Theorem. Let f be a function from \(R^ N\) into R. Then the following two statements are equivalent. (a) If \({\mathcal F}\) is a field of subsets of a set U, \(\xi\) is a real- valued bounded finitely additive function defined on \({\mathcal F}\), and each of \(\alpha_ 1,...,\alpha_ N\) is a function from \({\mathcal F}\) into a collection of subsets of R with bounded union such that each of the integrals \(\int_{U}\alpha_ i(I)\xi(I)\), 1\(\leq i\leq N\), exists, then the integral \(\int_{U}f(\alpha_ 1(I),...,\alpha_ N(I))\xi(I)\) exists. (b) f is continuous. (In the paper cited above, the \(\alpha\) 's were assumed to be single valued, but the argument carries over for this version with trivial modifications.) In the present paper, the author derives an extension of the above result (which is too technical to be stated here) involving the equivalence of three statements.
