This paper presents an efficient numerical algorithm for experimental data deconvolution by means of spline approximation, requiring no a priori knowledge. The number of the knots of the spline and their positions are determined automatically utilizing the value of a prescribed parameter controlling the trade-off between the closeness of the fit and the smoothness of the spline approximation. Detailed numerical examples and computer results are reported to illustrate the performance and the reliability of the method proposed.
