Fundamental axioms of continuum physics require that balance laws hold not only for a body B but for any subbody A of B. The author deals with the determination of the appropriate class of sets for the family of subbodies, establishing Noll's results in the more general frame of sets of finite perimeter. Three lemmas and three theorems are announced.
