The author deals with a simply connected complete Riemannian manifold M of strictly negative curvature bounded from above by a negative constant. The curvature tensor of M and its covariant derivative are assumed to be bounded. Given a point z at the infinity of M, the radial vector field Z on M is defined as follows: If \(p\in M\), then \(Z(p)={\dot \gamma}_{pz}(0)\), where \(\gamma_{pz}: R\to M\) is the unique geodesic satisfying \(\gamma_{pz}(0)=p\) and \(\lim_{t\to \infty}\gamma_{pz}(t)=z\). In the paper under review, the author proves that Z is differentiable of the class \(C^ 2\).
