In a rotating fluid, the flow between two infinite plates, perpendicular to the rotation axis, is investigated when a uniform stream is a ligned with a finite plate, parallel to the rotation axis. The Rossby number and Ekman number are considered small in the analysis. The solution is similar to the Blasius flow close to the leading edge. As the distance from the leading edge increases, the solution tends to the simple distance-independent flow in a similar manner to that described by the classical solution of Goldstein. The analysis of this paper can be extended to more general geometries and situations because of the direct analogy which has been established by existing work in two-dimensional classical boundary-layer theory.
