Let \(\Delta\) be a simplicial complex with n vertices, \(I(\Delta)\) be the corresponding Stanley-Reisner ideal of the ring of polynomials \(k[x_ 1,...,x_ n]\) over a field k [\textit{R. P. Stanley}, Stud. Appl. Math. 54, 135-142 (1975; Zbl 0308.52009) and Higher Comb., Proc. NATO Adv. Study Inst., Berlin (West) 1976, 51-62 (1977; Zbl 0376.55007); \textit{G. A. Reisner}, Adv. Math. 21, 30-49 (1976; Zbl 0345.13017)]; \(R=K[x_ 1,...,x_ n]/I(\Delta)\). The author describes local cohomologies \(H^ i\!_{{\mathfrak M}}(R)\) with respect to the ideal \({\mathfrak M}\) generated by \(x_ 1,...,x_ n\) [cf. \textit{H. Schmitt}, Exposé 4 in ''Der kanonischen Modul eines Cohen-Macaulay-Ringes'', edited by \textit{J. Herzog} and \textit{E. Kunz}, Lect. Notes Math. 238 (1971; Zbl 0231.13009)], in terms of the complex \(\Delta\). Description of a dualizing complex [\textit{H. B. Foxby}, ''A homological theory of complexes and modules'' (Copenhaven Univ., Preprint 1981)] for R is given. In the end, the canonical module of R is imbedded in R and relations to some results of \textit{K. Baclawski} [J. Algebra 83, 1-5 (1983; Zbl 0512.06001)] are established.
