Der Eindeutigkeitssatz für Demuškinformationen (Q790180)

Let K be a finite extension of \({\mathbb{Q}}_ p\), \(p\neq 2\), and \(\bar K\) the algebraic closure of K. The central problem is to describe Gal(\=K/K). Iwasawa started this and substantial contributions were made by A. V. Yakovlev and H. Koch. An important remaining problem was the description of the ''Demushkin'' relation. The present paper, together with two companion papers [\textit{U. Jannsen}, ibid. 70, 53-69 (1982); U. Jannsen and the author, ibid. 70, 71-78 (1982); see the preceding reviews], settles the question. Specifically it concerns a proof of the uniqueness theorem for the Demushkin formation as which \(G_ K\) is characterized. The concept of ''Demushkin formation'' is due to Koch but he only gave a complicated sketch of the uniqueness theorem. Here a proof is given based on Galois cohomology and symplectic modules.
