Throughout this review R will denote a hereditary Noetherian prime ring, and we shall say that R is exceptional if R is Morita-equivalent to a complete local Dedekind domain. A module M is said to be projective modulo its annihilator if M is projective as an R/ann(M)-module. The theme of this paper is the study of quasi-projective R-modules, and in particular those which are projective modulo their annihilators. Every quasi-projective R-module is projective modulo its annihilator if and only if R is semi-local and not exceptional. From now on we assume in addition that R is bounded. Let M be a quasi-projective R-module, then M is either torsion or torsion-free. If M is torsion then M is a direct sum of cyclic uniserial modules. Suppose now that M is torsion-free and that R is not exceptional, then M is torsionless, and if the uniform dimension of M is at most countable then M is projective. It was shown by S. Singh that if R is exceptional then the quotient ring of R is quasi-projective as an R-module.
