A well-known theorem of \textit{B. Fischer}, \textit{W. Gaschütz} and \textit{B. Hartley} [Math. Z. 102, 337-339 (1967; Zbl 0183.029)] states that, for a given Fitting class \({\mathcal F}\), each finite soluble group possesses a unique conjugacy class of \({\mathcal F}\)-injectors. In the paper under review, the authors show that the same property holds in any finite group which is an extension of an \({\mathcal F}\)-group by a soluble group. Moreover, various properties of \({\mathcal F}\)-injectors can be generalized from the soluble to this larger universe. \(\{\) Reviewer's remark: At the XVIIth All-Union Algebra Conference, Minsk, Sept. 14-17, 1983, \textit{V. G. Sementovskij} has announced essentially the same results.\(\}\)
