This paper gives the shortest and easiest proof of the transformation formula for multiple integrals, the reviewer has ever seen in the literature. The idea consists in showing, that (under suitable conditions on f) the integral \(\int f{\mathbb{O}}\phi_{\lambda}\det D\phi_{\lambda}\) is independent of \(\lambda\in [0,1]\), if \(\phi_{\lambda}\) is a family of diffeomorphisms depending continuously on \(\lambda\) (to be precise: \((x,\lambda)\to D\phi_{\lambda}(x)\) should be continuous). Constructing suitable homotopic families \(\phi_{\lambda}\) the authors not only prove the transformation formula, but also Brower's fixed point theorem and the homotopy invariance of the Brower degree in an elementary way (i.e. without using Stokes theorem), all within six pages (using only the lemma, which Dunford/Schwartz use in their proof of Brower's theorem).
