In this work the author studied the scattering of Rayleigh-Lamb waves from a two dimensional cavity in an elastic plate. To this end, in the beginning, the upper and lower surfaces of the plate are taken to be arbitrary wavy surfaces in which a cylindrical cavity without any surface traction is located. The scattering of Rayleigh-Lamb modes in such a medium is studied through the use of T-matrix method. A formal solution is obtained for non-planar surfaces but explicit expressions and numerical results are given for a plate with plane surfaces. Although this problem has been solved before by other methods, this study might be an important contribution in showing the application of T-matrix method.
