Singular integral equations (with Cauchy type kernels) have been solved numerically treating the end points as collocation points. An alternate method is given for the derivation of the natural extrapolation formula for calculating approximate values of stress intensity factors at crack tips. The results are generalized for a singular integral equation (with Cauchy type kernel) of the second kind with constant coefficients and index equal to 1.
