Most of the problems given in this book originate from the first author's pioneering research and book publications in mathematical demography. Thus, many students will welcome this problem book for a mature understanding of the subject, especially since they are helped by a balanced selection from the various fields of demography, by a well organized set up, and by sufficiently elaborated solutions to the problems. The book is divided into the following chapters: Not age-dependent populations; Life tables; Use of stable theory; Births and deaths under stability; Projection and forecasting; Stochastic population models. In order that demography beginners have a self-sufficient textbook, most of the chapters start with a short explanation of the needed concepts. The book is not only unrenouncable for every course in mathematical demography, but also a rich source of original ideas for connoisseurs.
