Every classical knot can be deformed into the trivial knot by applying some unknotting operations. So one can define a distance between two given knots to be the minimum number of the unknotting operations needed to deform one knot into the other. This defines a metric on the set of all classical knots. We also introduce another ''unknotting operation'', a {\#}-unknotting operation, and define another metric. In this paper, we study some relations between these two metrics and well-known knot invariants.
