The author extends results of \textit{A. E. Green} and \textit{J. Z. Mkrtichian} on isotropic elastic solids with different moduli in tension and compression [J. Elasticity 7, 369-386 (1977; Zbl 0367.73053)] to transversely isotropic bimodulus materials. Large deformation theory is specialized to the infinitesimal theory where the constitutive equations remain nonlinear and depend on the sign of principal strains. Wave propagation examples are given.
