The bounds of the effective elastic moduli of statistically isotropic but nonhomogeneous composite material have been obtained. The trial field chosen is appropriate for cell-like structures or binary mixtures. The bounds are dispersive as they depend upon the 'wave number ḵ' of the mean field. Hashin-Shtrikman bounds for statistically homogeneous isotropic materials follow as a special case when \(k=0\). The difference here is that these bounds involve a two-point correlation function which takes into account geometry of the material.
