For a lattice L let Sub(L) be the set of sublattices together with the empty set. It is known that Sub(L), ordered by set inclusion, is an atomistic algebraic lattice. In this paper the authors restrict their attention to a finite distributive lattice L. If \(\Phi\) (L) is the Frattini sublattice of L then Sub(L) is said to be pure if [\(\Phi\) (L),L] is boolean; and strongly pure if it is pure and every atom of \(Sub(L)\backslash [\emptyset,\Phi(L)]\) is contained in a unique atom of [\(\Phi\) (L),L]. A characterisation is given of those finite distributive lattices L for which Sub(L) is strongly pure.
