Let \(\Phi\) be the class of functions \(\phi\) with the following properties: i) \(\phi\) is continuous on \([0,\pi]\), ii) \(\phi\) is nondecreasing on \([0,\pi]\), iii) \(\phi\) (t)\(\neq 0\) for \(t\neq 0\), and iv) \(\lim_{t\to 0}\phi(t)=0\). Let \(\phi\in \Phi\) satisfy the following condition \(\int^{\delta}_{0}\frac{\phi(t)}{t}dt=0(\phi(\delta)).\) With this notation, the author proves the following theorem. Theorem: Let \(\omega(f,t)=0(\phi(t)), \phi\in \Phi\) and satisfy the above condition. If on the set \(E\subset [-\pi,\pi]\), \(| E|>0\), \(\lim_{h\to 0}\frac{1}{\phi(| h|)}| f(x+h)-f(x)| =0,\) then \(\lim_{h\to 0}\frac{1}{\psi(| h|)}| \tilde f(x+h)- \tilde f(x)| =0\) almost everywhere on E where \(\tilde f\) is the conjugate function of \(f\in L[-\pi,\pi].\) With the help of this theorem, the author gives a positive answer to a problem raised by L. Leindler on the international conference on the constructive theory of functions and functional spaces held in Poland in 1979.
