The following is proved: Let E be a Banach space which contains all Banach spaces \(\ell^ n_ p(1\leq p\leq \infty)\) uniformly complemented (such spaces are called \(S_ p\)-spaces) or a locally convex space with an \(S_{\infty}\)-subspace or with an \(S_ 1\)-quotient. Then for every locally convex space F the baralledness of the injective tensor product \(E\otimes_{\epsilon}F\) or the coincidence of the injective topology \(\epsilon\) and projective topology \(\pi\) on \(E\otimes F\) implies the nuclearity of F. This extends and comprises several different results due to J. Bonet, F. J. Freniche, H. Jarchow, K. John and V. Zizler. As an application it is shown that two non-nuclear Köthe sequence spaces E and F with \(E\otimes_{\epsilon}F=E\otimes_{\pi}F\) necessarily are Schwartz spaces.
