In this paper the authors present some new results concerning the Hardy \(H^ p\) functions in tubes and generalizations of \(H^ p\) functions in tubes, and information is added to the author's analysis in part III [ibid. 48 (1972) 137-158 (1973; Zbl 0276.46018)] where the \(H^ p\) functions are related to the distributional boundary value process. The following growth property of \(H^ p\) functions in tubes is proved in this paper. Theorem. If C is a regular cone in \(R^ n\) and \(f(z)\in H^ p(T^ C), 1\leq p<\infty\), \(T^ C=R^ n+iC,\) then there is a constant M(C) depending on the cone C such that \[ | f(x+iy)| \leq M(C)| y|^{n/p}(d(y))^{-2n/p},\quad z=x+iy\in T^ C, \] where n is the dimension and d(y) is the distance from \(y\in C\) to the boundary of C. In addition to this theorem, Fourier-Laplace integral representations are obtained for \(H^ p(T^ C)\), \(0<p\leq \infty\), functions for arbitrary regular cones C in \(R^ n\) or for quadrants in \(R^ n\). New spaces of functions are defined which generalize the \(H^ p(T^ C)\) spaces, \(0<p\leq \infty\), for the case that C is a quadrant in \(R^ n\). These new functions are characterized in terms of the \(H^ p(T^ C)\) functions, and as a result the new functions are shown to have boundary value properties and Fourier-Laplace and Poisson integral representations. [For part IV see ibid. 63, 203-214 (1980; Zbl 0452.46020)].
