The authors consider the system of nonlinear integral equations \[ x(t)=\epsilon X(t,x(t),\int^{t}_{0}\phi(t,\tau,x(\tau),\int^{\tau}_{0}\psi(\tau, s,x(s))ds)d\tau), \] where \(\epsilon\) is a positive small parameter, x is an n-dimensional vector, X(t,x,y), \(\phi (t,\tau\),x,z) and \(\psi\) (\(\tau\),s,x) are vector functions defined and continuous for all t,\(\tau\),s in the interval \([0,\infty)\) and all \(x\in E_ n\), \(y\in E_ m\), \(z\in E_ k\), where \(E_ r\) denotes the Euclidean space of dimension r. The solution is studied by using the ''freezing method''. The results are applied in order to solve the equation describing the free oscillations of a viscoelastic rod and various problems of quasistatic viscoelasticity.
