Error analysis of modal methods for viscously damped structural systems (Q792145)

Linear structural systems with viscous damping have been modeled by simpler ones described in terms of their dominant modes. The simpler system can be solved at much smaller expense than the original system. The authors have unified the description of the well-known methods for solving the simpler system. Also new methods have been developed. Finally the errors made in replacing the original system by its simpler relative have been analyzed.
