The structure of ''thin'' ends of a complete hyperbolic manifold M \((M=H^ N/G,\quad G\subset Isom H^ N),\) is investigated, i.e. the ends whose neighbourhoods consist of those points through which there is a nontrivial loop with length not exceeding \(\epsilon\) (for sufficiently small \(\epsilon>0)\). This end is called a cusp-end: it corresponds to the fixed point of a parabolic element of the group G. The cusp ends of a hyperbolic 3-manifold were described by \textit{W. Thurston} [The geometry and topology of 3-manifolds, Mimeographed Lecture Notes, Princeton Univ. (1978)]. In the case of large dimensionality the cusp ends of manifolds with geometrically finite structures were described by the author's result [Ann. Global Anal. Geom. 1, No.3, 1-22 (1983 Zbl 0531.57012)] from which follows theorem 1. In the general case such a discription is preceded by the fact (the main aim of the paper - theorem 3) that there exist discrete groups \(G\subset Isom H^ n\), \(n\geq 4\), whose parabolic points \(p\in \partial H^ n\) have no strictly \(G_ p\)-invariant horoballs \(B_ p\subset H^ N\) (i.e. \(\gamma(B_ p)=B_ p,\quad g(B_ p)\cap B_ p=\emptyset\) for all \(g\in G\backslash G_ p,\quad \gamma \in G_ p=\{\gamma \in G:\gamma(p)=p\}).\) However in theorem 2 the sufficient existence condition for a strictly \(G_ p\)- invariant horoball \(B_ p\) is given, and the manifold \(B_ p/G_ p\subset M\) is a neighbourhood of the corresponding cusp end. This sufficient condition (''cylindricity'' of the limit set of the group G) is sharp - this is clear because of the example of the group in theorem 3 of the paper.
