\(\lambda\)-ring structure on the Burnside ring of Hamiltonian groups (Q792663)

A \(\lambda\)-ring structure is introduced in the Burnside ring \(\Omega\) (G) and the ring of supercentral functions SCF(G) of every finite Hamiltonian group G. This structure agrees with that defined previously by Ch. Siebeneicher in the case of cyclic groups. The key point is the good behaviour in a Hamiltonian group of the Adams operations defined through the maps which send each subgroup U of G to the subgroup \(U^ n\) generated by the n-th powers of the elements of U.
