Fixed point theorems of generalized contractive type mappings. II (Q794019)

We obtain several new fixed point theorems for generalized contractive type mappings by means of \textit{M. Kwapisz}'s contractive gauge function [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 3, 293-302 (1979; Zbl 0448.47038)] and prove that lots of contractive type mappings are topologically equivalent to Banach contraction with given contractive constant \(C\in [0,1)\). These theorems improve and generalize some results of the author [Chin. Ann. Math. 2, 511-517 (1981; Zbl 0486.54039)], \textit{B. Fisher} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 75, 321-325 (1979; Zbl 0411.54049)], \textit{B. E. Rhoades} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 226, 257-290 (1977; Zbl 0365.54023)], \textit{K. M. Das} and \textit{K. V. Naik} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 77, 369-373 (1979; Zbl 0418.54025)] and strengthen their conclusions.
