An operator T, acting on a Hilbert space, is said to have property (P) if every operator \(X\in \{T\}',\) satisfying the condition \(\ker X=\{0\},\) must have dense range. An operator \(x\in \{T\}'\) is T-Fredholm if \(T| \ker X\) and \(T^*| \ker X^*\) have property (P), and the mapping \(M\to(XM)^-\) is an isomorphism of \(Lat(T_{(\ker X)^{\perp}})\) onto \(Lat(T|(ran X)^-).\) Theorem: Assume that T is an operator of class \(C_ 0\). Then \(X\in \{T\}'\) is T-Fredholm if and only if \(T| \ker X\) has property (P). Certain cases of this theorems were known [cf. part II of the paper, Acta Sci. Math. 42, 3-42 (1980; Zbl 0442.47007)]. The paper also contains certain examples, relevant for the theory of T- Fredholm operators.
