The author defines and studies a Fourier transform for compact nilmanifolds with flat coadjoint orbits. The analogues of several classical results from Fourier analysis on the circle (e.g., the Riemann- Lebesgue lemma and the Hausdorff-Young theorem) are established. The proofs of these results are based on some norm-inequalities for the primary projections.
