The projective Desargues configuration as well as the Pappus configuration admit a unique reflection in any line and any point, and the automorphism group G of these configurations is generated by \(S\cup P\), where S and P denote the set of reflections in lines and points. The paper states a system of axioms such that a group G together with subsets S and P is the automorphism group of either the Desarques or the Pappus configuration.
