The reflection of a planar solitary wave at a vertical wall has been investigated by solving the Boussinesq equations. The analytical solution is obtained by using the method of inner and outer expansions while a finite difference method is used to obtain the numerical solution. The results obtained from the analytical and numerical solutions are in good agreement and they also agree fairly well with the existing experimental results.
