This paper is concerned with the mass transfer from a spherical particle at low but non-zero Reynolds number when there is a uniform velocity of the fluid far from the sphere. The analysis is restricted to low Peclet number Pe and requires that the ratio of Prandtl number to Schmidt number is of order one. It is shown that for a droplet the inertia effect of mass transfer is felt only when terms of order \(Pe^ 2\) are considered. The author also shows how the present analysis can be extended to the case of mass transfer from encapsulated droplets and rigid spheres in slip flow.
