The stagnation-point flow is that of a viscous, incompressible, thermally and electrically conducting fluid under the influence of a magnetic field flowing towards a flat plate. The motion is assumed to be steady and rotationally symmetric. The exact solution of the problem is governed by a system of ordinary differential equations given by \textit{R. X. Meyer}, Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 11, 127-146 (1960; Zbl 0104.431). The authors solve the equations by the method of quasilinearization [\textit{R. E. Bellman} and \textit{R. E. Kalaba}, Quasilinearization and nonlinear boundary value problems (1965; Zbl 0139.107)] with a Runge-Kutta scheme or an implicit fourth order tridiagonal finite difference method depending on the magnitude of the Prandtl number. Numerical results are presented graphically for the velocity, magnetic intensity and temperature.
