    This paper contains three fixed point theorems for continuous self-maps on a Hausdorff space X. The main one is as follows: Let \(T_ 1\) and \(T_ 2\) be continuous self-maps on X and let f be a continuous map of \(X\times X\) into the non-negative reals such that for all x,\(y\in X (a)\quad f(x,y)=f(y,x),\quad (b)\quad f(x,y)\neq 0,\quad if\quad x\neq y,\quad (c)\quad f(T_ 1x,T_ 2y)\leq a\cdot f(x,T_ 1x)\cdot f(y,T_ 2y)/f(x,y)+b\cdot f(x,y),\) for \(a,b\in R_+\) and \(a+b<1\), \((d)\quad f^ 2(x,y)\geq f(x,x)\cdot f(y,y).\) If for some \(x_ 0\in X\), the sequence \(\{x_ n\}\), where \(T_ 1x_{2n}=x_{2n+1}\) and \(T_ 2x_{2n+1}=x_{2n+2}, n=0,1,2,...\), has a convergent subsequence of these type \(\{x_{(2p+1)n}\}\), where \(p\in N\) is fixed and \(n\in N\), then \(T_ 1\) and \(T_ 2\) have a unique fixed point. This result generalizes some theorems of \textit{B. K. Ray} [Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. R.S.R., n. Ser. 16(64), 77-82, 467-469 (1972; Zbl 0275.54034 and Zbl 0291.54055)] and \textit{D. S. Jaggi} [ibid. 20(68), 143-146 (1976; Zbl 0372.54050)].
