This paper deals with the optimal planning of the inspection and maintenance of offshore structures. Three optimality criteria are described: (1) the maximization of the effect of inspections subject to a given total economic budget, (2) the minimization of the total costs to achieve a given effect of inspections, (3) the minimization of total costs subject to a given total number of inspections. Solution algorithms are given and for the first criterion a numerical example is presented.
