An analytical solution for a class of delay-differential equations in pharmacokinetic compartment modeling (Q798270)

Time required for transfer of material from one compartment to another is often not neglegible. The method presented in this paper allows to get the analytic solution of a delayed differential system connected with an n-compartment model with constant time with a single input, and by convolution for all intakes. This is applied to the case of one-, two-, and three-compartments. The amount of drug in any compartment is expressed for all time, and the mean residence times are obtainable.
